Dhcp is not updating dns in server 2016
But I didn’t want this and I’m not going to update these files that often that it matters for me.
Please let me know if you know of a better solution.
The default profile suggests that these files should be put in /var/lib/bind.
If you have followed the steps in my previous post you might have your zone database files in /etc/bind/zones.
Before continuing These steps assumes that you already have a working copy of dhcp3-server and bind9 installed.
If you don’t have that I suggest that you first read my two other posts on how to install them: Setting up a DNS for the local network on the Ubuntu Hardy Heron server Setting up a DHCP server on Ubuntu Hardy Heron Step by step instructions Apparently the Ubuntu server is installed with an App Armor profile that prevents bind to write to the /etc/bind directory.
This means that all computers on a Windows 2000 network require a unique IP address to communicate with the Active Directory.
Static IP addresses can add a lot of administrative overhead.
However, upon restart, the client computers' Preferred DNS Server keeps resetting to x.x.x.5. When that happens, internet connectivity becomes spotty or nonexistent. When a computer is plugged into our wired network for the first time, it always shows an IP conflict until we assign one manually.I don't know if that's related to DNS problem or not, but I figured the more info the better, right?Taking 30 seconds to load or just giving page load failures.I cannot figure out why the Preferred DNS Server keeps resetting to our server's address.

authoritative; # Use this to send dhcp log messages to a different log file (you also # have to hack to complete the redirection). I don’t think that they are that bad and personally I don’t have any problem editing them after that bind has rewritten them.
